Due to rain, today's Love First Walk/Rally for Children in Poverty has been moved indoors.

The Rally will now begin at 5pm at the Broad St UMC.

Learn & Serve: 9am-1pm & 1-5pm 

Choose from four service & learning events, each include a workshop on poverty led by a keynote UM Bishop, followed by a chance to serve with the community in a variety of ways.

Poverty & Global Health

Saturday, May 1: 9am-1pm

Attend a workshop on the relationship between poverty & global health led by Bishop Fritz Mutti 

Serve at the United Methodist Charitable Pharmacy located onsite

Work with a team to assemble 3000 health & hygiene kits

Load and distribute kits to area community centers

Browse the health fair and receive free health screenings

Poverty & The Environment

Saturday, May 1: 1pm-5pm

Attend a workshop on the effect of poverty on the environment led by Bishop Jane Middleton

Work in and plant the Epworth Community Garden

Prepare seedlings and seed kits for food pantry clients and the community

Create raised beds for special needs gardeners  

Prepare the new Northwold Community Garden site and layout family plots

Walk & Celebrate: 5-6:30pm  

Public witness walk in downtown Colulmbus to the Statehouse Lawn for a rally and celebration in support of children in poverty.  Proceeds benefit the United Methodist Children's Home in Columbus and Grace Children's Hospital in Haiti.

4:30-5pm  Register for the walk at Broad Street UMC, 501 E Broad Street, Columbus, 43215, and have a bite to eat.  Rally T-shirts, placards and buttons available while supplies last.

5pm  Walk about 1 mile west on Broad Street to the Ohio Statehouse Lawn at 1 Capitol Square

5:30pm  Rally and celebration begins on the west lawn of the statehouse.  Special guests, speakers, games, music - a celebration for families and children.
