 West Ohio Conference Residency

Increasing the number of effective transformational clergy leaders for local churches in the West Ohio Conference

 The West Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church invites you to submit your name or nominate a person who demonstrates excellence in leadership to be considered for an appointment as a Resident, to begin July 1, 2009.

 

 Residency:

The West Ohio Conference Residency program, modeled after that of the medical community, is an opportunity for a person to serve the first two years of their post-seminary ministry as an associate pastor along-side an experienced pastor who is demonstrating local church leadership skills in a healthy congregation that is making and equipping disciples who are transforming their community and the world.

Objective:

To increase the number of effective and transformational clergy leaders in local churches of the West Ohio Conference.

Skill Sets:

Skill sets to be developed and/or strengthened during Residency include:

  • Implementation of an intentional discipleship system that incorporates:
    • Radical Hospitality
    • Faith-Forming Relationships
    • Passionate Worship
    • Risk-Taking Service
    • Extravagant Generosity
  • Ability to preach and teach that leads to a response
  • Ability to identify and equip strong lay leaders
  • Ability to develop and implement a major visioning and strategic planning process
  • Lead a major ministry initiative
  • Lead a successful stewardship program campaign

Timeline:

The person(s) chosen to serve as Resident(s) will be appointed as full-time associate pastor(s) for two years. The appointment(s) will be made and announced on or before April 1, 2009 and will begin on or before July 1, 2009. Priority consideration will be given to those who plan to serve as United Methodist clergy in the West Ohio Conference following their two-year Residency.

Compensation:

Full-time salary, parsonage and utilities (or housing allowance), health insurance and pension.

“This residency is providing me space to ask challenging questions, to learn from and to test best practices with spirit-filled leaders of a church where the laity are empowered to ‘make disciples of Jesus Christ.’ I am experiencing the Body of Christ in action.” Rachel Billups

Rachel is the current resident and serves as the Director of Worship at EUM Church in Greenville, Ohio

 

  

2008-2009 Supervising Pastor, Bill Lyle

 Bill currently serves as the Senior Pastor at EUM Church in Greenville, Ohio
