Community Center and Cooperative Parish Grant Applications
This grant is available to United Methodist community centers and cooperative parishes engaged in overcoming poverty. Congregational outreach ministries are not supported through this grant. In 2010, $150,000 will be awarded to ministries engaged in overcoming poverty through direct service and advocacy.
Definitions:
A community center has broad based community support and community partners that extend beyond the congregation. Community Centers are governed by a Board of Directors and have capacity to raise funds and volunteers throughout the community.
A cooperative parish is defined by Paragraph 206 in the 2008 United Methodist Book of Discipline.
Outreach ministry of a congregation is not eligible for funds through this application unless it also includes broad based community support.
Criteria
In order to be considered for funding, each application shall adhere the following:
Be a United Methodist Community Center or Cooperative Parish.
The bylaws must specifically stipulate United Methodist participation on the Board of Directors.
All requested information shall be provided and all directions followed.
Completed applications shall be received by 4:30 pm September 10, 2009 in order to be considered for funding.
Recognition: All grant recipients shall make it known that this ministry is supported by the West Ohio Conference.
